Making a connection with FTPES (FTP using SSL)

Connecting with FTPES or SFTPWhen using FTP, you may wish to have a more secure connection to our server when accessing sensitive data. This can be accomplished by using an FTPES connection or utilizing SFTP. There are a number of FTP programs that are capable of connecting using FTPES--a free one is Filezilla. Below we have provided the necessary settings for connecting using Filezilla. You may use another program with FTPES capability though the settings may vary slightly.

NOTE: When connecting using FileZilla, you CANNOT use the "Quickconnect" feature. You must use the Site Manager instead. This is because the Quickconnect feature does not let you adjust the connection type.

HOST: ftp.yourdomain.com (where "yourdomain.com" is the primary domain name for your hosting account)

PORT: leave blank, this will be set automatically

USER/PASSWORD: Your FTP/cPanel username and password

TRANSFER MODE: Passive

All other settings can be left as default.

Only the main FTP account may be used for FTPES, no sub accounts will be allowed.
